Day by day
Where to visit
- Tarangire National Park
- Serengeti National Park
- Ngorongoro Crater
- Lake Manyara National Park
- Lake Natron
You will be picked up from Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred by private vehicle to Arusha for your dinner and your overnight stay. If time allows, your guide can take you on a tour of Arusha. You will see the clock tower, local market and much more. Take the time today to exchange currency and buy a local sim card to call back home.
After breakfast, you will proceed to Tarangire National Park for game viewing and a picnic lunch. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire River that crosses through the park. It is the only source of water for the wild animals here during the dry season. The park is famous for its large numbers of elephants, baobab trees and tree climbing African pythons.
After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park for game driving and a picnic lunch. This small but scenic park covers an area of only 330sq km (127sq miles), of which up to 200sq km (77sq miles) is made up of the lake when water levels are high. Lake Manyara is an excellent place for bird watching and a good area to find elephants, giraffes, zebras, baboons, warthogs, buffalo's and maybe even a legendary tree-climbing lion! At some point during your game drive, you should get off your vehicle at the hippo pool to stretch your legs and observe the hippos here!
After breakfast, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Crater for game viewing and a picnic lunch. This park is one of the most densely crowded wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals. The crater is often called “Africa’s Eden” and is also considered the eighth Natural Wonder of the World. A visit to this amazing place is the main draw for tourists coming to Tanzania and undoubtedly a world-class attraction!
Within the crater rim, large herds of zebra and wildebeest graze while lions sleep and laze in the sun nearby. At dawn, the endangered black rhino will return to the thick cover of the crater forests, after grazing on the dew-laden grass in the morning mist. Just outside the crater’s ridge, tall Maasais herd their cattle and goats over green pasture and through highland slopes. They live alongside the wildlife here as they have done for centuries.
After breakfast, you will drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Serengeti National Park, enjoying game viewing and a packed lunch en-route. The Serengeti covers over 6,000sq miles of sprawling, unspoiled landscape. Add to that an extraordinary population of resident and migratory animals in a constant bid for survival, and you will begin to understand why this place is often called “the world as it was in the beginning”. As soon as you enter the park, the wildlife viewing will begin! Search for leopards and lions and watch in awe as zebras and wildebeests appear from amidst the woodlands and plains.
You'll spend the full day exploring Serengeti National Park on a game drive. You can opt to have a hot lunch at the camp or eat a picnic in the park. We strongly recommend that you wake up early for a game drive in order to enjoy the sunrise in the middle of the bush while spotting wild animals in the park.
After breakfast, you will leave the Serengeti and enjoy a game drive en-route to Lake Natron. The scenery here is beautiful, especially the Ngarasero Escarpment, the waterfalls, the gorge, Oldonyo Lengai (a still active volcano) and the flamingos across the lake. Today we will go on a walk to the waterfalls. During the walk, you will cross the water at different times, at which point you can swim and refresh under the waterfalls.
Wake up early today and wait for the sun to rise on the lake. Make sure you walk around and see the flamingos. We will spend the morning at Lake Natron and finish any activities we didn’t have time for yesterday. After lunch, you will leave the lake and drive to Arusha, arriving in time for dinner.
After breakfast, you can go shopping in town or relax at the lodge if time permits. You will then be transferred to Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport by private car.
